Should you be successful, you would be working 21 hours per week on a permanent contract over our Monday to Friday service.
Main duties of the job
- To work on The Planned Infusion Unit at Newton Abbott Community Hospital providing specialist infusions and tests for patients referred from Rheumatology, Dermatology, Neurology, Osteoporosis and Multiple Sclerosis specialist Nurses and Consultants, also direct from GP Surgeries.
- To be part of the unit team responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of patient care under the guidance of the unit sisters and Unit Manager. You will be working closely with other professional colleagues to ensure that consistently high standards and quality of care for patients are maintained and that the patient's needs are met.
- To improve practice by continuous professional development. You will gain a broad spectrum of clinical proficiency to deliver specialist infusion medications.
- To conform to COSHH and Health and Safety regulations when dealing with cytotoxic monoclonal antibody drugs and the risks associated with them, ensuring a safe working environment.
- To provide clinical advice, training, education and support to patients, relatives and other professional colleagues.
- To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, their carers, visitors and staff and to comply with the Trust and relevant network policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, values and expected behaviours.
About us
Why Work With Us
We are currently an 8 chair unit based at Newton Abbott Community Hospital, treating patients referred in from various specialist services, such as Rheumatology/Dermatology. However, we are planning an extension to our services following our move to a purpose-built unit within the Hospital, which will increase our capacity to around 15 chairs.
Knowledge and experience of specialist infusion therapy and working on a day case unit would be an advantage.
The successful candidate would be expected to embrace these changes as part of the team and be integral part of developing the service.

- This post involves being part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with other RGNs, Assistant Practitioners, Healthcare assistants, students, domestics and ward clerk and all other learners.

- Develop an awareness of self, the knowledge of the limits of own competence, the ability to seek advice and support to look after self effectively.
