Job summary

The Coastal PCN comprising of the GP practices in Teignmouth & Dawlish have a vacancy for a part time Dietician (one day a week).

We are looking to recruit an experienced Dietician with a proven track record in lifestyle management & who has a dynamic, self-motivated, innovative approach to their work. You will work closely with the lead Clinician and our Health and Wellbeing Coach on an exciting project - you can find more information at

Experience within Primary Care is not essential. It is more important that you have the right transferrable skills and experience, have excellent communication & engagement skills and are passionate about patient care and wellbeing. If you have a flexible approach and are resilient, calm under pressure with a teamwork mentality and a good sense of humour then we can't wait to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Help help maintain and develop the course content for 'Wholelife' (lifestyle management for chronic disease treatment and prevention, and for everyone ultimately).

Make connections in the community to help with the course (e.g., local Community Centres, supportive Restaurants and Gyms, outdoor exercise groups).

Deliver 1 hours course sessions to group of 20 either in face-to-face session if possible, or remotely using Zoom.

Proactively search patient records/ audit to invite relevant groups into the courses and proactively try to fill courses with people that would benefit from lifestyle advice e.g. population groups that may have multiple risk factors/ areas of deprivation etc and thinking of strategies to reach these groups.

Follow up all participants 3 months after the course finishes with a questionnaire phone call.

Aid the participants to obtain pre course and post course weight BMI and bloods - forms for use at their surgeries.

Maintain social media presence and maintain website resources.

Keep records of all that have attended (numbers, sex, weight, bp, cholesterol, hba1c -start and finish).

Contribute to course development, keeping the course content up to date and developing additional course content when needed.

Occasionally run educational sessions for network health centre staff and present results. Share results with other networks.
