Job summary
Our Clinical Pharmacy services are recruiting for a Lead (Highly Specialist) Pharmacist specifically within the Acute Admissions and Emergency Care service. The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and ensure the delivery of high quality, specialised clinical pharmacy services for Acute Admissions and Emergency Care in Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT).
You will work closely with colleagues at all levels to ensure that the service provided is patient focussed, safe, effective and responsive to the needs of staff and patients.
Main duties of the job
- In liaison with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, be responsible for the strategic planning and development of the acute admissions and emergency care pharmacy service in TSDFT
- Co-ordinate and participate in the delivery of the acute admissions and emergency care pharmacy service to ensure that advice is provided to clinicians to enable these medicines to be used safely and effectively, in line with their commissioned indications and approved pathways.
- Develop and ensure adherence to processes and guidelines to ensure that medicines in acute admissions and emergency care areas of the Trust are used safely and effectively and that information about patients' regular medicines is obtained quickly and provided to prescribers.
- Provide highly specialist clinical pharmacy advice and medicines related training and education to the TSDFT acute admissions and emergency care teams
- Provide operational direction, leadership, development and training for the pharmacy acute admissions and emergency care team
- Liaise effectively with and between medical, nursing, pharmacy and other staff in the provision of the above duties

- Post Graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience
