A fantastic opportunity has arisen withTorbay Pharmaceuticals (TP)for a new Product Development Specialist within theProduct Development Team,who are made up of highly driven individuals working together to achieve the overall business goals.
At TP we offer flexible working and this role has the potential to be 90% working from home where we'd only need you to come to the office at agreed times.
Particularly motivated to improve the status quo, the Product Development Team are often implementing changes to better support our team, the wider team and the overall business goals.We are also instrumental in client relationship management within TP and champion the client's voice within our internal discussions.
You do not need to have had previous experience working in this role but you will need to have worked in a science based role or pharmaceutical manufacturing, within a GMP environment.
A small but mighty team working within the overall TP team, Product Development people know that teamwork across the business is key. We are highly motivated to deliver projects but know that this requires interactions from people from across all the different teams in TP so it is our job to make sure everyone knows what they need to do so that we can all achieve.
Main duties of the job
The Product Development Specialists are responsible for the day to day running of new product development initiatives. Providing leadership to the project team members, they are both responsible for leading the more technical aspects of product development e.g. formulation development and specification setting and the project and client management to ensure on time delivery in alignment with client expectations.
The Product Development (PD) Team within TP works at the front end of the business to introduce new pharmaceutical products. Within the current 5 year strategy, this team will be responsible for the delivery of substantial additional revenue.
To deliver on this strategy a significant number of new products must be introduced into the business.

Essential
- Honours degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent scientific experience
- Extensive experience working within the pharmaceutical sector in a technical and scientific capacity
- Qualification in Pharmaceutical Project Management or equivalent experience
- Proven track record of successful project implementation
Desirable
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent scientific experience
Knowledge
Essential
- Good knowledge and understanding of the implications of validation on all processes involved in Product Development.
- Good knowledge and understanding of product transfer and batch scale up.
- Good knowledge and understanding of Analytical Chemistry and Microbiology in a Pharmaceutical Quality Control Laboratory
- Knowledge and understanding of the licensing routes for products and the type of development required for MHRA approval.
