An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Stoma Care Nurse Specialist to join us in a full time role, would suit a colleague looking to expand their experience and knowledge and move into a specialist nursing role.
The opportunity is open to a registered nurse with a passion for stoma care; previous experience is preferable but not essential, although knowledge and experience of surgical nursing in a colorectal field is advisable.
We are a close, supportive team based in the BRI but working cross site in Weston general and South Bristol Hospitals, and the successful applicant will be well supported to learn and develop in a realistic and achievable time frame. as this is a specialist role induction and development would be a bespoke process.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate would have recent, relevant clinical experience of caring for patients with a stoma and demonstrate a real passion for the specialism as well as excellent nursing skills, experience and education in their current post. This is a real chance to explore a new specialism and develop professionally for the right candidate.
You will be an integral part of the team providing continued care from hospital to home and beyond, providing pre-operative counselling and siting, post-operative ward teaching, discharge planning, and follow up outpatient nurse-led clinics. The team support patients in their own homes, in the Bristol and Weston locales as well as ward patients and in an outpatient clinic capacity. The role will involve working in close partnership with patients, their families and the Multidisciplinary Teams in the hospital trust and community, providing evidence based, compassionate, expert stoma nursing care. You will be well supported and encouraged towards developing new skills and education in this specialist area.
Driving licence an advantage for role.
