Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our well-established specialist Respiratory Nurse team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation trust.
The current team provide specialist respiratory care throughout the Bristol site, across inpatient and outpatient services, to patients with both acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
We are seeking a nurse with a good understanding of long-term respiratory conditions, excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously within the supportive environment of a forward thinking and experienced team.
Main duties of the job
As a specialist respiratory nurse, you will be providing holistic care including assessment, planning and treatment as well as advice and support to patients with respiratory conditions. You will also act as a resource to hospital staff and other healthcare professionals requiring specialist input. You will work alongside the established team to enhance your current level of practice whilst supporting you to develop your confidence and ability to independently review patients and make decisions.

- Thorough and up to date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice particularly within speciality area
- Significant relevant respiratory clinical experience

Qualifications

- Registered General Nurse and current NMC registration
- BSC Degree or equivalent (or willing to work towards)
- Evidence of master's level academic study or willingness to work towards Masters (in relevant health related subject)
Desirable
- Relevant courses in Respiratory Care, particularly in asthma and COPD
- Management qualification
- Teaching qualification or equivalent
- Independent non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards
