We are looking for a motivated & dynamic individual to work across our Speech & Language Therapy &Nutrition & Dietetic teams at Bristol Royal Infirmary. You will be part of front door services, supporting patients & staff in the E.D. & Assessment Units. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn & develop while working clinically for 4 days a week & 1 day a week to study, completing a two-year apprenticeship that leads to a Level 5 Foundation Degree ( start Autumn 2026). To progress to band 4 the individual will need to pass the apprenticeship & meet the performance needs of the role. We focus on delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for our communities. Parking: Loxton Campus (next door to HALSC) has a free student car park, located through main gates of the campus on the right. The car park can be accessed by students using their College ID badge (barriers sometimes up so can park there). There are also a few local residential streets with free parking.
Main duties of the job
- Implement MUST screening etc as required & highlight care plan needs
- Assist patients to meet their nutritional requirements, observing dysphagia guidance & therapy
- Undertake nutritional and dysphagia risk screening
- Contribute to the safe and effective management of special diets & food allergies within front door services
- Support patients with communication difficulties
- Maintain stock levels of patient information (clinical and non-clinical)
- Work within guidance & operating procedures to commence & review patient treatment & therapy plans
- To liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team & local services to support the pathway of care & patient journey to discharge onwards
