Job summary

This is an opportunity for a hard working individual to join the Adult Therapies Department at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Weston Area Health NHS Trust.

We are looking for an Outpatient Clinic Coordinator to join our specialist outpatient teams working at Bristol Royal Infirmary. The Adult Therapies, Physiotherapy / Dietetics / Speech and Language Department are responsible for the assessment and management of outpatient clinics.

Main duties of the job

The role of Clinic Coordinator is to serve as a contact for patients accessing our services. We are a small dynamic team providing an excellent service to our patients and staff. You will be working within a small team who enjoy a supportive and friendly working environment, where we encourage participation and learning from one another at all times and focus our efforts towards a patient centred service.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Clerical / administrative experience, including filing and/or reception
  • Experience of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience of using a Patient Administrative system

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
  • Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or relevant experience

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others

  • Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
