Job summary
On Treatment Review Therapeutic Radiographer
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated therapeutic radiographer for our On-Treatment Review service at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. The post will also involve rotation through our Late Effects Service.
This radiographer will have an excellent technical background and experience reviewing patients. The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and will have exemplary communication skills and be able to put patients at ease.
You will be expected to disseminate knowledge to patients, peers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
You should have a wide range of radiotherapy experience and possess excellent time management and organisational abilities.
All staff are involved in the development of the service and we actively encourage continual professional development.
Main duties of the job
- Anticipate, identify and actively manage common and complex treatment related side effects of patients undergoing radiotherapy as part of their cancer treatment.
- Provide direct patient care related to specific side effects of radiotherapy according to agreed protocols and participate in clinical decisions regarding patient care in the absence of established protocols.
- Provide expert support to patients experiencing debilitating late effects of radiotherapy along with management of symptoms.
- To use highly developed communication skills to support patients and carers in informed decision making about their care.
