Job summary
Applications are invited for a Senior Neonatal Fellow to join the NICU at St Michael's hospital, combining clinical work at ST4+/registrar level with opportunities for wider professional development.This particular post is specifically for colleagues on the RACP Neonatal/Perinatal medicine advanced training programme in Australia/New Zealand who are seeking NHS experience in the UK. Interested applicants from other backgrounds may apply for other available fellow posts at St Michael's, but will not be considered for this post.
Main duties of the job
The post is for a period of 12 months from September 2026. It is intended as a full time post but applications for less than full time working will be considered.This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified candidate to enhance their experience in tertiary level neonatal intensive care. The regional NICU at St Michael's Hospital provides regional tertiary neonatal intensive care for medical patients and supra-regional services for infants with surgical, neurosurgical and cardiac problems. St Michael's is accredited as a neonatal/perinatal training centre by the RACP.St Michael's NICU was rated in the top quartile (dark green) of neonatal placements for clinical experience, curriculum coverage, supportive environment and overall satisfaction on the most recent GMC survey and the unit has a strong ethos of inclusion and development of our staff.Applicants should have a minimum of 12 months experience at ST4+/SpR level or equivalent in neonatal medicine, be registered on or have recently completed the RACP neonatal/perinatal medicine programme, and be eligible for registration with the GMC and to work in the UK.

Essential
- Registered on or having completed the RACP neonatal/perinatal medicine programme
- General professional training of at least 3 years in approved UK or equivalent paediatric training posts. This must include at least 6 months in a neonatal intensive care post. 6 months of the remaining time may be in a relevant non-paediatric post
- At SpR level - 6 months experience in tertiary NICU
Desirable
- Neonatal post in a large tertiary unit capable of providing all levels of intensive care
- Paediatric sub-specialty experience, including community child health, developing world paediatrics, and other subspecialties
Skills and Abilities

- Commensurate with competencies outlined for ST4 level posts
- Computer Literate
- Experience of and willingness to participate in teaching of other professionals
- Knowledge of the principles of QI and audit and evidence of participation in relevant projects
