Clinical Fellow (ST1-2) - SDEC / Haematology and Oncology

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer a fixed term position for a Clinical Fellow in haematology and oncology for a 4-month period (July-Oct 2025) at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC).

The BHOC provides Oncology and Haematology services to the former Avon, Somerset and Wiltshire Cancer Network with a catchment population of approximately 2.2 million people. The BHOC houses D603, the inpatient oncology ward, D703, the inpatient haematology, BMT and IEC (immune effector cell therapy) unit and the regional teenage and young adult (TYA) inpatient unit, Area 61, as well as the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit where we receive direct admissions of unwell haematology and oncology patients. The BHOC is also the home of the Radiotherapy department, chemotherapy day unit providing a full range of treatments, the University of Bristol Palliative Medicine group, BHOC Clinical Psychology, the TYA Day Unit and a large Clinical Trials Unit.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join will primarily be based our the SDEC unit but will also have some time working on the haematology and oncology wards. While in the SDEC unit they may be required to work a mix of 9am-5pm and 1.30-9.30pm shifts (Mon to Fri only).

There is a 32 bedded Oncology ward incorporating 5 teenage and young adult (TYA) beds and two protected sealed/unsealed source rooms, an out-patient suite and a chemotherapy day unit for oncology patients. The Haematology Unit consists of a 24 bedded ward and day units for patients with both malignant and non-malignant disorders. The Bristol Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre and Bone Marrow Transplant service are based on the unit.

The successful applicant will assist in delivering the work of the Haematology and Oncology teams and will have the opportunity to contribute to continuing education, clinical governance and research within the Division, Directorate and Trust. The successful candidate will join existing teams who are enthusiastic and motivated.
