Job summary
This is a full-time (approx. 10 PA) fixed term post for 12 months as a consultant ophthalmologist to set up a high-volume cataract service.
The post holder will work with the friendly enthusiastic general and sub speciality services for Bristol and surrounding areas (circa 1 million) and tertiary referral specialist services for Bristol the wider Southwest region. his role will support the delivery of a high-volume cataract service, with a mix of clinic and theatre sessions that support high patient through-put to the service. The post holder will have clinical sessions at both the Bristol Eye Hospital and South Bristol Community Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The cataract service is split across South Bristol Community Hospital and BEH, with high-volume cataract clinics and lists being developed across both sites.
This role will support high-flow clinics and theatres, leading the service at SBCH.
This role will support the continued development and improvement of a high-volume cataract service with support from the management team.
This role will support the training of Ophthalmic Specialist Trainees.

- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training in Ophthalmology (CCT), or evidence of within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
