We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, adaptable energetic and enthusiastic individual with a broad knowledge of surgical/emergency nursing to work as band 6 in an inpatient and ambulatory setting on A609.

A609 are very excited to be recruiting 1 WTE Senior Staff Nurse's (Band 6) to join our well established team in the Division of Surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).

We are also opening up this opportunity to those wanting a progression post with support and training to meet Band 6 competencies/person specification and workload. This would suit an experienced Band 5 Nurse who has interest in management, adaptable skills and natural leadership abilities but may need more clinical support within the A609 team and ward environment.

We are looking for a range of experience and can provide training and development opportunities. We also offer flexible working, part time hours or full time hours depending on what suits the requirement of the service.

Main duties of the job

The Surgical Trauma Assessment Unit (STAU) consists of a 23 bedded inpatient unit and the Same Day Emergency Care unit (SDEC) consists of 10 assessment spaces for ambulatory patients. We provide a 7-day a week acute assessment for surgical/ Trauma & orthopaedic/ ENT/ maxilla-facial patients referred urgently either via GP or admitted via the emergency department.

Nurses will work closely with doctors, ACPs, AHPs, Clinical Site Managers and Health Care Support Workers.

The same Day Emergency Care unit (SDEC) offers an opportunity for nurses to triage acute surgical and trauma patients referred by GP's over the phone to support with providing a service where patients are assessed and treated without the need for an overnight admission.

The ward/environment is not like any other and offers a different way of working but ultimately is a fast paced and dynamic department caring for surgical patients.

This role gives job variety, continued development and involvement in exciting new projects as well as providing job satisfaction. As you build your knowledge and confidence you will be expected to work independently and manage your own team in conjunction with the Supervisory Sister.
