Job summary

The Patient Transport department are looking for a dispatcher to process complex patient transport bookings and curate a transport plan to ensure patients reach their appointments in a satisfactory time integrated with facilitating discharges from hospital to continue patient flow.

Main duties of the job

  • Process complex patient transport requests
  • Motivate crews to ensure maximum service delivery
  • Create an effective plan to ensure patients travel within specific time frames
  • Communicate with multiple teams from both within and outside UHBW and NHS services.

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
  • Confident and experienced user of a range of IT systems

Desirable

  • Have advanced typing skills, able to log information effectively

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience planning and dispatching significant patient transport activity
  • Experience of dynamically-assessing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Significant experience with a variety of specialist IT systems
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Experience of working in a busy environment, utilising accurate administrative skills

Desirable

  • Experience in dealing with emergency journeys, using an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology, and recognition of life-threatening conditions
  • Knowledge of trust patient transport processes and procedures
