Are you an enthusiastic therapeutic radiographer with Gamma Knife experience, seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to this specialist radiotherapy service?
We invite you to join our Gamma Knife team, delivering accurate treatments and providing excellent care and support to those in need of Stereotactic Radiosurgery/Stereotactic Radiotherapy.
In conjunction with the Gamma Knife Manager, this post holder will co-ordinate the Gamma Knife treatments and optimise the use of all current resources and assist in implementation of Tiers 3 and 4 services. They will provide expert clinical practice in the form of treatment delivery, using highly developed communication skills to support patients and carers in informed decision making.
The post holder may be required to work shifts including evenings, and bank holidays and to participate in an on-call rota.
The Gamma Knife team comprise of a small, compassionate team of dedicated professionals working in a multi-professional environment, across divisional and trust boundaries, working collaboratively as a team to achieve best outcomes for their patients.
Main duties of the job
Clinical practice:
- Operate and be responsible for the Gamma Knife equipment ensuring that it is used safely, accurately and efficiently.
- Interpret, monitor and evaluate the treatment prescription to ensure that treatment is delivered accurately and reproducible.
Professional Leadership and Management:
- To be responsible for the clinical work of the gamma knife unit, and using appropriate planning and time management techniques, develop standards of care and technical expertise of self and team. Be able to motivate and lead team members.
- To be responsible for the organisational and administrative practices within the Gamma knife patient pathway ensuring efficient use of resources.
Research and Service Development:
- Using specialist knowledge act as a resource for the Radiotherapy Services Manager to enable decisions regarding service developments to be made.
- Contribute to the wider development of their area of practice, communicating specialist knowledge to the multidisciplinary team and recommend future audit, research and changes in practice.
