Job summary
The WISH Centre is seeking to appoint a motivated and compassionate and kind Band 3 Health Care Support Worker. Previous experience of working in a Sexual Health Clinic is desirable though not essential. Aptitudes of kindness and patience along with a non-judgemental and considered manner is essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential and applicants should be able to be demonstrate the ability to be forward thinking and passionate about delivering a high standard of care. You will be expected to be a responsive and conscientious professional that is able to work as part of the Multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will be required to carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare, or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values.There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, specific to your needs. Training will be provided to ensure you have the required core skills and skills set specific to your area of work.
The WISH Centre is a part of Unity Sexual Health, which provides specialist integrated sexual health services in the BNSSG area. The WISH Centre provides Level 3 integrated sexual health care in North Somerset.
Main duties of the job
To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, including for example, blood pressure monitoring, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, , collection and testing of urine samples, including pregnancy testing. Processing a variety of samples. Ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care at all times. NB: this list is not exhaustive. Chaperone patients who are having intimate procedures and examinations. Participate in patient assessment providing high quality holistic patient care and escalating concerns about patients to other clinical staff Practice safe standards of care of patients following Trust guidelines and policies and be able to concentrate for periods throughout the day with interruptions. Ensuring equipment and stores are well maintained, taking appropriate action if the equipment is faulty Trained in venepuncture or willing to train Demonstrated interest in sexual health
