Due to maternity leave, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join the paediatric neurosciences team based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
As part of this forward thinking and innovative team this post will provide a highly specialist occupational therapy service to children under the care of neurosciences, including assessment and rehabilitation for children and young people with traumatic and acquired brain and spinal injuries. You will also take the lead working with children with complex movement disorders undergoing deep brain stimulation.
You will provide a source of expertise locally, regionally and nationally. You will be a valued member of the small but specialist OT team, including supervision and development of rotational band 6 Occupational therapists.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a highly specialised Occupational Therapy service to children referred to the neuro-rehabilitation and complex movement disorder service, assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision.
- To act as a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children requiring rehabilitation following neurological insult, including acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury or functional neurological disorders.
- To take a lead role in the management of more difficult and complex cases within a multi-disciplinary team approach, acting as an autonomous practitioner.
- To provide clinical supervision to junior staff including direct line management of rotational band 6 occupational therapist. Support the wider Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team as required
- To be a core member of the neurosciences MDT, providing specialist advice to other members and to provide clinical education and training to others within the trust and externally.
