An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) Team, working across University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust's ten hospital sites.
We are seeking to appoint a high calibre and credible individual. You must be dynamic, innovative and motivated , passionate about EPRR, putting the patient experience first, and someone who shares our trust values. Experience in a similar role in a complex environment is essential.
The post holder will be capable of working under pressure, prioritising to deadlines and multi-tasking. Good motivation, persuasion and planning skills are also essential. Your skills will have been ideally developed in an NHS environment and you will bring energy and a resilient leadership style. The post requires a high standard of communication, analysis, clear thinking and organisational skills and offers excellent opportunities for career development.
Whilst the role can have an element of flexible working roles, regular on-site attendancewill be expected across all hospital sites
Main duties of the job
The Emergency Preparedness, Resilience & Response (EPRR) Manager is a high-profile role with trust wide responsibility and will act as part of the EPRR Team, working to achieve its objectives to ensure the trust remains resilient to incidents and disruptive events.
The team function is to enable the organisation as a Category 1 responder, to meet the full statutory duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, ensuring alignment of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) to ISO22301 and NHS England Core standards for EPRR, and to evolving national guidance, supporting the site operations team to manage incidents effectively.
The EPRR Manager ensures that EPRR risks are proactively managed and that learning from incidents is implemented. The role provides expert advice to services to ensure appropriate plans are in place, and delivers training and exercising from floor to board to ensure staff are knowledgeable of and confident in their roles so as to minimise impact on performance from both routine and more serious disruptions.
The EPRR Manager acts as a specialist lead and advisor to the trust Senior Leadership Team and the professional link for regulators, external partners and interested parties, leading on EPRR assurance and operational planning.

Essential
- Degree, or equivalent working experience, in emergency planning / disaster management or a related subject such as DipHEPRR
- Evidence of continual professional development and acquiring new skills / knowledge
- Formal Teaching/ training qualification to level 3 (BTEC/ City and guilds)
- Structured debrief facilitation qualification (PHE/ UKHSA/ College of Policing)
Desirable
- CBCI certificate from the Business Continuity Institute (
