Job summary
Avon & Somerset's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is a service based in the Central Health Clinic, Bristol. We support victims of sexual assault when they need us most, from helping to gather forensic evidence through to linking with sexual health, counselling, advocacy and other specialist support.
Our vacancies are for 37.5 hours per week covering shifts between 9am and 7pm and will include a requirement to offer one on call shift per week on our out of hours rota in times of need. This element of the role attracts a standby payment of £40 per shift and when called out is paid at an enhanced hourly rate.

Main duties of the job
A rare opportunity has arisen for a crisis worker to join our expanding team. The Bridge is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us. We need people who are passionate about supporting people at times of vulnerability and trauma. Our Crisis Workers play a key role in ensuring a high quality, trauma informed, client centred service is delivered with the aim of reducing the negative impacts of sexual violence and for those who choose to report we seek to assist the criminal justice system.

- Degree in health-related subject or equivalent work experience in sexual health, children's health, play therapy, experience in supporting victims of sexual assault or other vulnerable populations via statutory and or voluntary work
Knowledge and Experience

- Able to communicate well with distressed patients and their families or carers, working within an emotional environment
- Experience of working with vulnerable people so that competency is demonstrated as high level
- Understanding of issues relating to rape and sexual assault
- Demonstrate ability to exercise empathy
- Understanding of Criminal Justice System
- Willingness to undertake appropriate training, for example, in child abuse, rape, sexual violence, and legal/criminal justice issues, and violence and aggression training
- Understanding of diversity issues particularly in relation to SARC services
- Experience of working across organisations/ agencies/ contractors
- Experience of telephone support work such as Samaritans
- Experience of working with children and young people of all ages between 0-18 years
