Job summary

Are you a passionate pharmacist with Cancer Services and e-Prescribing experience? If so, University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Trust (UHBW) has an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team, working at the forefront of cancer pharmacy in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC).

As a Specialist Cancer Pharmacist for SACT e-Prescribing, you will work closely with our senior pharmacist to assist with the development of the SACT e-Prescribing system. This involves collaborating with the clinical and aseptic teams to implement changes safely and effectively.

Main duties of the job

To assist with the development of the SACT e-prescribing system, under the direction of the senior pharmacist, including:

Maintaining drug files, worksheets, regimens and protocols in accordance with agreed processes

Adding new drug files, worksheets, regimens and protocols in accordance with agreed processes

Performing validation and quality assurance checks where approved to do so

Assist with reporting including the submission of electronic data to national bodies as required

Training and assessing competency of prescribers and other staff in the use of the system, in accordance with agreed standards.

Assisting with new developments and projects under the supervision of the senior pharmacist

This role is currently 11.25 hours per week, focusing on SACT e-Prescribing. If additional funding is available in the future, the responsibilities may be expanded to include the role of authorised pharmacist in the aseptic unit on a sessional basis.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in hospital pharmacy at Band 6 level or equivalent
  • Post-registration experience in Cancer Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technical Services, particularly systemic anti-cancer treatments; or clinical pharmacy experience across a range of specialised areas
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and professional standards
  • Experience of using electronic prescribing systems

  • Working knowledge of systemic anti-cancer treatments and supportive care

Skills and abilities

  • Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information
  • Methodical and accurate
