Job summary

An exciting opportunity for someone motivated & hard working to join the Division of Surgery, Head & Neck.

We are looking for a new Health Service Assistant (HSA)/Ward Porter to join our multi-disciplinary team on the Surgical and Trauma Assessment Unit (STAU), & Same day Emergency care (SDEC) unit Ward A609, a fast paced, friendly and exciting environment where all staff can take pride in delivering a high standard of patient care and experience.

We are looking for an organised and efficient person with excellent interpersonal skills who will relish the opportunity to contribute to the shared goals of our team in this challenging, and at times stressful, environment where no two days are the same. You will work closely with the entire team; managing patient notes, equipment and stock whilst also transferring patients between departments. Experience of working within a hospital setting would be beneficial but not essential.

Main duties of the job

On a day to day basis, tasks will include:-

  • Providing Portering service including the transfer of patients, equipment and resources between wards and departments.
  • Collecting and delivering a range of goods including drugs, bloods, furniture, case notes, specimens and medical gas cylinders.
  • Loading and unloading deliveries
  • Maintaining stock levels, re-stocking including stock rotation
  • Maintaining confidentiality and attend trust training
  • Assisting with daily ward tasks such as making beds, answering telephones, and assisting at meal times
  • The above duties are not an exhaustive list, you may be asked to assist with other tasks as and when required.
