Post - Band 6 Occupational Therapy in Older Persons Therapy (OPT)
Hours - 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week) 2 bank holiday shifts per year and in the future 1 in 4 weekends.

Main duties of the job
Our friendly, supportive and proactive OPT team support Weston General Hospitals (WGH) OPT wards - Draycott and Kewstoke. Working closely with the ward and community multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) to provide high quality care for our patients. We are thrilled to launch the recruitment drive for dynamic, proactive, forward thinking therapist to join this team.
We are looking for:
- A highly motivated, proactive and innovative therapist, who is passionate about service delivery, development and improvement.
- A Therapist with strong clinical and developing leadership skills to work closely with the integrated therapy teams, the OPT and community MDT to deliver high quality care to our patients.
Senior clinical and non-clinical support structure is well established with not only the OPT band 7 therapists and the Pathway Lead, but also our fantastic OT and Physio OPT clinical specialists. In service training programmes and staff appraisal systems are in operation to help you develop to meet the demands of the post.

- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
Knowledge and Experience

- Experience of managing a general medical &/ or care of the elderly caseload as a Band 5 in a hospital setting and completed a variety of band 5 rotations
- Experience of working alongside unqualified OT staff
- Staff have completed a variety of rotations as a Band 5/ 6
Desirable
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Able to prioritise & organise own caseload in both acute as well as rehabilitative setting
- Able to recognise own supervisory needs & respond positively to suggestions for improvement
- Able to demonstrate effective team working skills
- Able to identify own strengths & weaknesses in clinical practice & knowledge
- Able to demonstrate they have the skills to supervise others
- Basic IM&T skills sufficient to input data from hospital systems
- Able to travel between sites
