Within our X-Ray Department you'll be doing a variety of general x-rays, mobiles, and fluoroscopic imaging procedures. There are also many opportunities for development, and involvement in student training.

Main duties of the job

Within our X-Ray Department you'll be carrying out a variety of general and mobile x-rays. You will need to justify clinical requests, and reasonably assess what views are required. In addition, you will need to carry out fluoroscopy imaging either in theatre, or our interventional room.

We'd like to speak to Radiographers who are able to:

  • Collaboratively work with staff of all levels and be able to adapt to different communication styles
  • Be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Prove ability to perform as part of a team

Essential

  • BSc Radiography or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • H&S regulations relating to radiation protection (including IRMER regulations)
  • Computer skills for patient data and image manipulation for digital modalities
  • Experience of general and trauma plain film imaging, with knowledge of a wide variety of all imaging techniques
  • Experience of mobile, theatre and screening work

Desirable

  • Manual handling and basic resuscitation
  • Experience of conducting X-Ray Equipment Quality Assurance

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise workflow through imaging rooms according to clinical needs of patients and to prioritise the needs of different hospital areas
  • Ability to prioritise different categories of patients
  • PC skills, image appreciation (visual recognition of contrast, sharpness, resolution), ability to estimate distances accurately
  • Ability to use radiology information system to access and alter patient and examination data
