Job summary

Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) have a unique opportunity for a motivated and focused individual to join their medical records team. This post will initially support with pull and prep of physical notes for clinics. However, over time duties will support the scanning of existing and new medical records to support our transition to a paper light/paperless system.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of working in a team with deadlines and be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, be able to type .

This role requires some manual handling, transporting notes using trollies, moving note storage rack via a mechanised system. Please note this role will involve a lot of moving around and standing for periods of time.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure the methodical pulling and organising of the patient's case note records for patient activity, this includes sending the patients case notes (both present & futures processes) to out-patient clinics and to departments/wards for planned admissions/emergency activity or directly to the scanning bureau in a timely mannerand in line with the Trust requirements.
  • Work as a team to prepare/maintain the patients case notes for the patient's care following manual and electronic processes at both the Medical Records Libraries andwithin the Medical Records Scanning Bureau.
  • To investigate and track patients case notes i.e., searching the library for missing case notes, searching & retrieving case notes for the emergency department and wards from around the Trust. Ensuring that all case notes are updated on the Trust Medway tracking system. Disclosure of patient information in accordance with current legislation.
  • Work as a team to deal with loose filing/paperwork that comes into the current Medical Records Libraries and within the Scanning Bureau.
