Job summary
The Division of Surgery is one of six clinical Divisions within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. The Division consists of services delivered at the Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH), Bristol Dental Hospital (BDH), the acute surgical services, critical care and theatres on the main Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) site and integrated surgical services at Weston General Hospital.
This post manages Bristol Dental Hospital and associated specialties with management responsibility for their operational, financial and performance management. The post holder leads a team of managers to work effectively with respective clinical and nursing leads for the services in sustaining elective recovery and delivering future ambition.
The post reports into and deputises for the Divisional Director as appropriate and is responsible for ensuring that all services are focused on ensuring the most effective and efficient use of resources to deliver a high-quality service that achieves and exceeds the required performance targets.
The post holder will be required to participate in the daily site and on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
The post holds management responsibility for the operational and performance management of the Division, on behalf of the Divisional Director. This post is responsible for ensuring that all services are focussed on ensuring the most effective and efficient use of resources to deliver a high-quality service that achieves and exceeds the required performance targets.
There is also an explicit requirement for this post holder to deputise for the Divisional Director, across all service lines in the Division, and to act as the divisional and cross trust lead for issues and projects, as required, in agreement with the Divisional Director and Clinical Chair.
The post holder will work closely with the divisional management team to ensure the delivery of effective and high-quality clinical services and the achievement of both strategic objectives and performance targets. As part of the Division's management team, the post holder will have responsibility for the leading on the division's capital programme.
