Consultant Clinical Oncologist
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Clinical Oncologist with specialist skills in the management of Lower Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, Hepatobiliary Cancers and Neuroendocrine tumours.
Whilst the advertised post is for 6 PA's, candidates who are looking for a greater number of sessions or a full time role would be welcome to enquire and discuss.
Main duties of the job
This is a new part time substantive post based at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). The post holder will be based at the Bristol site and will join established teams for the delivery of care. This will include responsibility for being an ARSAC license holder and supervising patients receiving radionuclide therapy for neuroendocrine tumours.
The adult Oncology department has 33 (not all full time) consultants who work between the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) Weston Hospital. BHOC provides services to a catchment population of 2.2 million people. The radiotherapy department offers IMRT, high dose rate brachytherapy, SABR and Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery. Adult systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) is delivered in our 30 bedded in-patient unit, 20 chair chemotherapy day unit or in our two community units. There is a strong emphasis on research with BHOC trials unit actively recruiting in over 100 trials. There are close links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.
The successful candidates for this post must be registered with the GMC with a valid license to practice and should have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date in Oncology within six months of the date of interview.
