Job summary

We are looking to offer an experienced and motivated Research Radiographer the opportunity to join the BHOC Clinical Trials Unit.

You will be leading on a wide range of radiotherapy clinical trials so recent experience in working autonomously in this area is an essential requirement. An enthusiastic and forward-thinking team player with current radiotherapy skills and knowledge - you will work within the clinical team in CTU managing a portfolio of radiotherapy-based trials. Current and substantial experience in the principles & practice of all phases of research trials is essential combined with key skills in working autonomously.

Working closely with the CTU Manager/ Lead Research Nurse, BHOC Consultant Research Lead and Principal Investigators, the post holder will provide clinical trial leadership in the management of a portfolio of Radiotherapy/Oncology trials. The post holder will utilise skills of clinical expertise, leadership, education, and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers, and staff.

Main duties of the job

This is an autonomous role integrated within and as part of the clinical trials unit team offering the opportunity to lead research professionals and ensuring clinical trials integration within the BHOC.

To act as a senior member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing expert knowledge for radiotherapy trials. To supervise and co-ordinate radiographers/research nurses within CTU allocated to radiotherapy trials; ensuring flexible utilisation of the research skill mix to enable maximum patient recruitment. To manage a portfolio of radiotherapy based clinical research trials. To liaise closely with the trials team; the multidisciplinary team, patients, carers and study organisers to ensure effective communication, high quality care and adherence to the study protocols. Maintaining effective communication and safe working practice within a complex regulatory framework

To co-ordinate specific trials undertaken by clinicians and to collect data for those studies, providing complex information in an easily understood manner to assist in the informed consent process. Involvement in the informed consent process is an important aspect of the role as is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.

  • DCR(T) or BSC (Hons)State Registered Therapeutic Radiographer
  • Post Graduate Training / Education
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification in radiotherapy research, or another relevant subject
  • Evidence of master's level academic study or willingness to work towards Masters (in relevant health related subject)
  • Management qualification

Knowledge and Experience
