Job summary

Band 5 to band 6 Developmental Posts are designed to attract Occupational Therapy graduates, with experience as a band 5, who are interested in progressing through competencies that support them becoming a band 6 at UHBW. You will manage an increasingly complex caseload independently, assessing occupational performance and delivering specialist occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values at all times and operating as a leader in the team, service and organisation.

This role offers a structured period of time to consolidate knowledge and continue to learn band 6 OT skills whilst furthering experience of working in different teams and specialities.

You will have access to wellbeing support, via our departmental wellbeing advocates and UHBW wellbeing initiatives.

You will be expected to work a regular weekend pattern in each rotation (typically 1:4) and be part of the bank holiday rota working 2 bank holidays per year.

Main duties of the job

As a rotational band 5 you will have the opportunity to work in a range of different speciality teams including Trauma and Orthopaedics, Older Persons Therapy, Medical Rehabilitation, Cardiac, Surgery, Stroke Rehabilitation and Front Door services. These 6-month rotations will be across both Weston General Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary, there is also an off-site rotation at Southmead Hospital on the Acute Stroke Unit.

As a band 6, the rotationsare 9 months long andspeciality teams include all the above rotations as well as Critical Care, Oncology and an additional offsite rotation with Sirona in the Integrated Community Stroke Service.

You will have dedicated time for clinical supervision, appraisal and professional support, all Band 5 OTs have 1:1 time with our newly appointed OT Development Leads and also support from our OT Clinical Specialists where appropriate. As a teaching Trust we actively promote and encourage lifelong learning, with access to a wide range of in-house training opportunities and access to external courses. We are proud to have an Occupational Therapist as the Therapy Lead for our Integrated Adult Therapy Service as well as an Occupational Therapist as the Trust AHP lead.
