Job summary

Would you like the opportunity to work alongside our friendly and motivated team of nurses and other healthcare professionals?

We require a full time Housekeeper to help us maintain a safe, tidy and efficient environment on D601/D603 (Oncology/TYA) at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. You will be responsible for some ordering and organisation of stores, as well as an array of non-clinical tasks with additional duties, as directed by the nursing staff. You will work closely with the nursing team in a supportive role.

Working days will primarily be Monday to Friday

Experience in Housekeeping is desirable but not essential. You must have strong organisation, IT and time management skills and be able to be innovative with a zest for new challenges as the department grows and develops new services.

Good communication skills are essential as the role involves liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary teams within hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • Keeping trolleys well stocked
  • Ordering using our internal ordering system and maintaining stores
  • Locating new items we require, contacting suppliers and obtaining quotations
  • Maintaining the clinic rooms - keeping drawers well stocked with appropriate forms
  • Helping to open the outpatients department in the morning - opening up rooms, tap-flushing, checking oxygen/suction working, recording temperatures, monitoring, resetting and recording the fridge temp
  • Creating and maintaining checklists i.e. cleaning/equipment checks
  • Menu orders for patients
  • Checking dates on stock monthly
  • Creating spreadsheets/signs/posters
  • Contacting Webbs (external company) for removals
  • Liaise with Hotel Services if anything needs changing/cleaning or a deep clean - or for any general queries.
  • Logging compliments/gifts/general thank you from patients on Datix
  • Updating patient behind bed boards
