Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated administrator to join our professional and friendly team on a fixed term (maternity cover) basis.

This full-time post provides an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to be part of the South Bristol Academy team, one of the partner organisations of the University of Bristol medical school ("the University") and is responsible for the clinical placements of undergraduate medical students at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW).

You will benefit from the experience of simultaneously working for two major organisations - UHBW and the University of Bristol.

The SBA office and teaching rooms are based in Dolphin House within the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The post holder will provide an administrative service to the South Bristol Academy.

The SBA administration team is part of the wider UHBW Medical Education Department which also includes Postgraduate Medical Education.

As well as this being an organisational role, we are here to support medical students on placement in the BRI with their queries, concerns and pastoral needs - therefore this is predominantly an office-based role.

The 37.5 hours are to be worked over 5 days, within the hours of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Main duties of the job

You will love this job if you:

  • Enjoy working alongside a wide variety of professionals (you will be closely working with UHBW consultants, clinical teaching fellows, administrative staff and University academics)
  • Enjoy working in a busy office environment and would enjoy interacting in-person with medical students, doctors and office staff
  • Are someone who is used to managing their own time and workload, and who will enjoy the challenge of creating student timetables, managing courses and assessments.
  • Have excellent IT and communication skills and be familiar with all common computer software packages (Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel etc).
  • Like working in a close-knit and supportive team, comprised of people working in different professions.
