The Reception department has an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Team Leader to join our dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking gain hands on experience leading a team, working amongst a fast paced environment and passionate about delivering high quality patient care. The post holder will have a range of administration experience, ideally within a healthcare environment, although other relevant administrative experience will be considered. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the Band 2 Receptionists and develop close working relationships with other departments within the Eye Hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the day to day management of the Band 2 Receptionists and escalate where appropriate
  • Create and maintain rota cover across the outpatient reception desks
  • Involvement with HR processes according to policies
  • To liaise with clinical staff, GPs, wards and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and e-mail as and when necessary
  • Show a caring and professional approach towards patients and visitors when carrying out reception and appointment duties. This may require acting with resilience to deal with sometimes distressed patients
  • Working closely with the clinic coordinators to monitor and ensure the completion of outcomes in line with trust policy
  • To book patient appointments in line with the Patient Access Policy (PAP), send/print letters and arrange any appointment related services as and when required (E.g transport and interpreting services)
  • To carry out associated clerical duties, for example maintaining accurate filing systems, receiving post and diary management
