Job summary

As Fire Safety Warden, you will operate under the guidance of the Principal Fire Officer and manage your duties. You will lead with the support of management in instilling appropriate Trust Values and fire safety working practices into all teams working in the hospital buildings.

You will be the responsible for all fire safety activities within the hospital you operate within, which includes leading on behavioral changes in relational to fire safety in both clinical and non-clinical teams. Duties may include hands on general moving and handling obstructions where appropriate to ensure fire evacuation routes are clear of clutter. This includes both the internal and external fire evacuation routes

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day compliance of clear evacuation routes, both internally and externally, of the hospital building. Liaising with departments/wards on the removal of items causing an obstruction
  • Liaise with departmental/ward Fire Warden's on the completion of departmental fire safety audits
  • Ensure fire doors work effectively, are in good condition and not wedged open
  • Provide guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff on how they can positively mitigate risk by their actions
  • Promote good levels of staff engagement with regard to improving fire safety culture and awareness of fire safety training requirements
