Thisis a secondment opportunity to work within the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) within Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre
The TYA cancer research nurse based at UHBW, the principal treatment centre for TYA cancer care in the south west, will actively promote and support the management of clinical trials in research sites across the Clinical Research Network (CRN) for the West of England for TYAs with cancer. Importantly the post-holder will work alongside the adult and paediatric clinical trials units in UHBristol in the delivery of clinical research studies for TYAs with cancer. The post holder will be an active member of the South West TYA Cancer network, working closely with the TYA lead clinician and Lead Research Nurse based at UHBristol, as well as the TYA lead clinicians in designated hospitals across the network. The post holder will lead on actively promoting access to clinical trials for TYAs with the TYA Multi-disciplinary advisory team (MDaT) meeting based at UHBW, alongside site-specific cancer teams.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have experience in TYA, paediatric or adult oncology / haematology research and will understand the unique needs of young people with cancer. The post holder will have excellent communication skills to foster good working relationships in research sites and take an active role in professional forums and networks. This post requires a highly skilled individual, with well-honed emotional resilience and coping strategies. Successful candidates need to be adaptable in their work patterns to deliver study requirements.
