Unity Sexual Health has an unique and exciting opportunity to work as a Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Manager in our Unity @ Yate Community Clinic. This is a community clinic based at Yate West Gate Centre. If you are looking for an opportunity to help develop a community sexual health service then Unity Sexual Health is looking for you.
We are currently able to offer a 6 hr post, where you will work with a Band 6 nurse.
We are looking for:
- A dynamic and confident person with previous experience management experience;
- Considerable experience of managing your own caseload of contraception and sexual health patients;
Excellent interpersonal skills, a good understanding of safeguarding issues, and an accomplished role-model.
Main duties of the job
The Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Manager will:
- Be responsible for delivering high quality, responsive, safe, efficient, compassionate care.
- Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management and clinical responsibilities.
- Support the Matron in developing the service, through teaching, audit and research, and policy development.
- Provide expert clinical support to colleagues.
Be responsible and accountable for the total care of patients, independent of medical practitioners.

Essential
- Experience in Contraception and Sexual Health work with a highly developed specialist knowledge, including experience of working with patient group directives.
- Significant relevant clinical and management experience.
- Experience of day to day supervision, and clinical supervision of staff and students in a Contraception and Sexual Health setting, including effective standard setting, monitoring and feedback.
- Understanding of the principles and application of effective staff and HR management / appraisals.
- Understanding the theory and application of clinical governance.
- Experience of working autonomously with contraception and sexual health patients.
Desirable
- Experience in undertaking nursing research.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Registered General Nurse / 1st Level Registration.
- Current NMC Registration.
- Recognised Contraception and Sexual Health Course.
- Qualification in Teaching, Assessing and Mentoring.
- Evidence of Masters level academic study or willingness to work towards Masters (in relevant health related subject).
- Qualification for the insertion and removal subdermal contraceptive implants.
- If no qualification for the insertion of IUD then a willingness to work towards one.
Desirable
- Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation Course / Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Health Qualification.
- Qualification for the insertion of intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD).
- Non-medical prescriber qualification.
