We are really excited to be able to permanently recruit to a Team Lead Physiotherapist in the Critical Care, Cardiac and Surgery Team. Our patient caseload is varied and diverse, and we provide a service to Cardiac & General Intensive Care, Cardiac Surgery Wards and Cardiology. We treat patients following Cardiac surgery, Cardiology procedures, Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests and ACHD patients, within the Cardiac Pathway and our General ITU includes SARF patients along with specialist surgery for Upper GI, Thoracics, Hepato-billary, ENT & Max-Fax .

Our therapy team is a supportive team of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy technicians, working with the wider multi-disciplinary team. You will receive clinical and professional support from Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the weekend and bank holiday rota.

You will have the opportunity to access our in-house training courses and external training courses, and have access to mentoring and coaching for your career development and progression. Working closely with our existing Team Leads and Pathway Leads and Clinical Specialists, you will lead and develop our team and be involved in service development, quality improvements and research.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake a clinical team leader role, in planning, coordinating, and delivering the Physiotherapy service provided to patients across the Intensive Care Units and Cardiac Pathway
  • With the support of the Pathway Leads, to evaluate patient services across the specialities and assist in the development, planning and progression of service provision.
  • To take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty, who may have complex and / or chronic presentations, and to determine clinical diagnosis and Physiotherapy treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To work and lead in the integrated therapy team - being a line manager to both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Staff.
  • To provide highly specialist advice and training to Physiotherapists, students and other healthcare professionals in their speciality.
  • The post holder will be required to work shifts including weekends and to participate in the bank holiday rota.

  • A variety of experience in acute core areas, as postgraduate physiotherapist i.e T&O, musculoskeletal, respiratory & neurological, dealing with a wide range of patients with differing needs
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience of relevant respiratory/neuro rehab

Desirable
