Job summary
This is a new post created to jointly deliver the OT clinical leadership across acute medicine wards. The post holder will also provide a specialist resource, and skilled clinical input, to those teams who manage stroke patients on the Bristol Royal Infirmary Site (Including the Bristol Heart Institute, TIA clinics and the Emergency Department).
As an integrated Occupational Therapy & PT team you will work alongside Band 7 OTs and PTs in delivering the joint team lead role.
The post holder will work closely with the Pathway Leads to further develop the pathway and so we are seeking an individual with drive, enthusiasm and ability to bring forward innovative ideas.
The service operates a level of 6 day working and a commitment to a Saturday service at 1:4 frequency is required. The post holder will also contribute to 2x Bank Holidays per year (excluding Christmas day and Boxing Day).
Post is availablePart-time (minimum 22.5hrs per week) up to Full-Time (37.5hrs per week)
Main duties of the job
Job Purpose
- To undertake a joint team leader role, alongside the Band 7 Physiotherapists (PT), in order to plan, coordinate, and deliver the integrated OT/PT service to patients across the Acute Medicine wards and the Stroke Outlier service at the BRI
- To undertake the joint OT clinical lead role for the teams across Acute Medicine
- To provide a specialist resource and skilled input to those teams who manage stroke patients on the BRI site (eg in Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) clinics, the Emergency Department (ED) and stroke patients on outlying wards.
- A Band 7 is a highly specialist clinician, who after several years post registration experience across a broad range of conditions, has chosen to develop and practice at a highly skilled and specialised level to a specific range of conditions patient groups.
- With the support of the Pathway Leads, to evaluate the patient services across Medicine and Stroke Outliers, assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision.
- Contribute to a level of six day working with a Saturday frequency of 1:4 and work up to two bank holidays per year
- To take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of complex patients across the specialist areas, who may have complex and / or chronic presentations, and to determine clinical diagnosis and OT treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
