Job summary

Staff Nurse required in Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Outpatient Department.

- Come and work in the Ear Nose and Throat outpatient clinic as part of our friendly nursing and multidisciplinary team at St Michaels Hospital.

- Supervise and assist in the running of patient consultations ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained.

- Promote clinical effectiveness and explore opportunities for teaching others within the outpatient department multi-disciplinary team.

- Participate in the decontamination of nasendoscopes.

- In the absence of the Department Sister or Matron, oversee the running of the department occasionally, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of thedepartment.

Main duties of the job

Clinical

1. Oversee general outpatient clinics as required and facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the department.

2. Seek guidance from medical staff where appropriate.

3. Plan and prioritise work, managing time effectively.

4. Support medical staff clinics as appropriate to ensure that patients are seen in a timely fashion.

5. Participate in the decontamination of nasendocopes.

6. Opportunity to gain competencies in aural care in the nurse led clinic

7. Communicate to patients and staff if there are any delays and take appropriate action to minimise disruption to service delivery.

8. Maintain accurate records of nursing care and treatment in line with UHBW record keeping policy and NMC.

9. Liaise with administration staff to ensure appropriate referrals to the clinic as necessary.

10. Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.

11. Liaise with audiology staff to maximise patient flow through the department

12. Participate in audit of clinical practice

13. Ensure high quality evidence-based delivery of care to patients with a variety of ENT problems.
