Job summary

We are looking for a Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our dynamic and friendly ward who can lead the team, ensure we maintain high standards of care for our patients and work as an effective member of the team.

Ward 6B at Yeovil District Hospital specialises in diabetes/endocrinology and looking after older acute patients living with frailty and other comorbidities. You will learn, develop and work with an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deputise in the absence of the ward manager, managing safe staffing levels and the delivery of high quality care to our patients, whilst maintaining a warm and friendly caring environment.

The role includes being in charge of the shift, working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective discharges. Completing staffing rosters, ward audits and dealing with patient issues as they arise, as well as ensuring staffing levels are mitigated when there are shortfall in staffing levels as well as supporting other wards within the division.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, show care and compassion to patients and colleagues alike, and work well within a team.
