Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Physician Associates to take part in a two year rotational post across medical specialities. The successful candidates will rotate across 4 specialties within the acute hospital.
We have 10 Physician Associates (PA) working in a variety of specialities in a mixture of rotational and substantive posts throughout the trust. The PA profession has grown at Yeovil Hospital over the last few years with a dedicated PA leadership team. We believe a key component of the role is a clear idea of a career progression with consultant supervision and mentoring. We have regular PA specific teaching sessions which are not only beneficial for ongoing CPD requirements, but also help create a warm and welcoming PA community.

Main duties of the job
Physician Associates are trained to assess and examine patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations, and recommend treatment. They will be expected to liaise with other professionals and specialities as required and complete necessary documentation relating to their patients.
It is expected that the Physician Associates will become involved in the activities of the Department, including, reviewing patients admitted to their ward/s and providing subsequent management of their case as part of the medical team. It would be envisaged that the role would be developed flexibly over time in accordance with the appointee's clinical interests and in line with the needs of the service.

- BA/BSc level degree prior to undertaking PA programme.
- PGDip/MSc in Physician Associate studies from a recognised UK or US training programme.
- Valid certification of passing the Physician Associate national exam.
- Registration on the Physician Associate managed voluntary register (PAMVR).
Desirable
- BLS/ILS/PILS/ALS certification.
- Recognised qualification in teaching
Experience
