An exciting opportunity has
arisen for a Junior Sister post at Milford Hospital. Milford Hospital is a 30
bed sub-acute care and frailty unit. We have two wards and specialise in
orthopedic geriatric patients recovering post-surgery.
Supported by the other junior
sisters / charge nurses & senior sister, you will be responsible for the running
of the shift and delivery of care, working closely with the multi-disciplinary
team.

Main duties of the job
The applicant absolutely must
be flexible to work a range of shifts both days and nights and be able to
inspire the team to make positive changes which will better patient care and
staff morale. An understanding of the trusts values, true north objectives and
achieving excellence program would be beneficial for this role, in addition to
knowledge on how Quality Improvement can be used to enhance patient care.
We are looking for someone who
can share our vision for the future at Milford, where we are expanding our
services to include sub-acute care, MRI, CT, Phlebotomy and ECHO, in addition
to other community services. There are exciting developments ahead in Milfords
future and we want someone who will strive to help us achieve our goals and
aspire to create the best care environment possible.

The post holder will deliver patient care on a daily basis. They should be expert in all areas of
nursing care from patients admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice
development. As nurse in charge they have overall responsibility for day-to-day management
of their clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and
procedures maintaining associated records. They will manage, support and lead a team of
nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care, which is of a high standard.
They will assist the senior sister in the management of staff including appraisal, rotas,
recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners. They will provide advice and support
to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Utilising clinical audit,
research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of
care by efficient and effective use of resources and liaise with the senior sister at all times.
The will provide leadership on the Trusts values and behaviours.
To assist in the management of the unit on a day to day basis by appropriate deployment,
delegation and supervision of all grades of staff. To act as a team leader on shift. To facilitate
an improvement in the quality of healthcare for patients. To help provide a conducive working
and learning environment. To support the senior sister to promote evidence based nursing
practice within the department.
