The post-holder
will be based at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust

Research and Development Team contributing to the development of research at
the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust?
In this
role, you will have the opportunity to undertake clinical research trials which
could affect patient recovery and improve life expectancy, within our Oncology
and Radiotherapy departments.
Applications
are welcome from radiographers who are currently working at Band 5 or Band 6
level. Training will be provided to radiographers looking to move into Research.
You
will be responsible for the management of a local portfolio of clinical trials
with support and guidance from the Radiation Oncology Research and Treatment
Team Leader (ROR). You will collect and report on data and undertake toxicity
assessments for these trials as required and in line with QA standards.
Main duties of the job
Working
within the multi-disciplinary radiation oncology research team, every day you
will collaborate closely to support, develop and deliver research projects.
Assessing
and managing care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical
trials, you will work closely with them to monitor, record and report on the
trial progression and outcomes.
This
opportunity will enable you to maintain your established clinical skills and
use your in-depth knowledge of radiotherapy techniques, trial protocols and
research methodologies (training is available to experienced radiographers
looking to move into research) as well as their application in practice.
This post

You will be required to provide a
clinical trials service to patients of the RSNHSFT, predominantly within the
Clinical Oncology service. As a
Research Radiographer you will be responsible for assessing and managing the
care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This
will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and
the collection and documentation of accurate data.
JOB SUMMARY
The role is based primarily in the research
environment; however the post holder will be expected to maintain core clinical
skills. One day per fortnight, the postholder will be rostered to work clinically
in the Radiotherapy department, St Lukes Cancer Centre.
You will be required to provide a
clinical trials service to patients of the RSCH, predominantly within the
Clinical Oncology service. As a
Research Radiographer you will be responsible for assessing and managing the
care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will involve the recruitment, education
and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of
accurate data.
You will
provide a rounded and holistic service to patients, providing them with care
and advice on radiotherapy and research in a manner appropriate to their needs
and respecting their autonomy, privacy and dignity. You will act in a
professional manner at all times.
You will work
flexibly; you will support the needs of the service and be aware that the
radiotherapy service is open from 8am until 7pm Monday to Friday but
recognising that occasional work outside of these times and during weekends or
public holidays will be required.
You will work collaboratively with the
clinical trials and radiotherapy teams and with the wider multi-disciplinary
teams within cancer are in the network to support the clinical management of
your of patients.
The role involves using an in depth
knowledge of radiotherapy techniques and trial protocols/research methodologies
as well as their application in practice. You will be required to comply of
local, national and international regulations relevant to your role.
