Job summary

We are now seeking to appoint a Managing Director who will help us realise our key ambitions, set the strategic direction and lead the company through the next phase of its evolution. As Managing Director of HPL you will be the companys statutory accountable officer, and full voting member of the HPL Board. You will be responsible for business development and operational performance, including: service delivery, quality and transformation; cost improvement, financial performance and growth; and organisational culture.

We are seeking a candidate with the ability to build strong working relationships with business partners and service users within RSFT, Surrey Heartlands ICS, external customers, and a wide range of suppliers. You will develop innovative solutions and ensure effective communication across a complex political and stakeholder environment. You will evaluate, create and exploit opportunities within an evolving and challenging market, to grow a successful and sustainable support services business. You will lead a cohesive, high functioning team within HPL.

Main duties of the job

Corporate Responsibilities

As the Accountable officer of HPL, set clear standards for corporate responsibility and accountability for all staff employed by HPL.

Provide a clear framework for corporate governance, risk management and strategic development which is owned by the HPL Board and delivered by the executive team.

Demonstrate clear accountability for HPL development and meeting strategic and business objectives.

In conjunction with the HPL Chair, be responsible for the effective functioning of the HPL Board.

Chair the HPL Executive Committee.

Be accountable for all statutory responsibilities such as Health & Safety.

Lead HPLs participation in the assessment processes undertaken by the Care Quality Commission and all other relevant regulatory bodies (e.g. MHRA, Companies House).

Business/Strategic Development

Develop an annual strategy for HPL that aligns with the Trust strategy.

Lead the identification of business and service opportunities to be provided by HPL to and with the ICS and other third parties.

Lead negotiations with external providers and enhance the organisations brand in conjunction with HPL and RSFT executive teams.

Healthcare Partners Ltd (HPL) is a subsidiary company of Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT) providing facilities and managed services for clinical teams. This includes the provision and maintenance of all clinical equipment, including radiotherapy technical services; end-to-end procurement and supply chain functions for all consumables, implants, devices and capital equipment; and advanced maxillofacial laboratory services.

Since the companys inception in 2018, HPL has been able to establish itself as an important partner to the Trust, bringing experience and expertise, working closely with clinical teams to deliver cost efficiencies and care transformation. 2. HEALTHCARE PARTNERS LIMITED (HPL)

HPL was established in 2018 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. It is now a £51 million business, employing 80 staff and managing assets to the value of £52 million. The range of services has developed over the years and now includes:

Procurement, supply chain and contract management services

3. JOB PURPOSE

The Managing Director provides leadership and the role sets the strategic direction for HPL as it continues to develop as a leading provider of healthcare support services.

The role is responsible for the delivery of all business development objectives, including explicit operational performance targets, cost improvements, service transformations, customer facing metrics, staff performance, clinical quality standards, financial targets and growth.

The post holder is expected to build strong working relationships with business partners and service users especially with RSFT, the ICS, other external customers and a range of key suppliers.

The post holder will lead a cohesive, high functioning team within HPL: developing the skills and capabilities needed in a growing, high-achieving healthcare services business.

The Managing Director is a full voting member of the HPL Board and its statutory accountable officer. As such, the person is responsible for the overall management of HPL, its performance in terms of service provision, financial and corporate viability, and compliance with all statutory and service obligations.
