Job summary
Team Leader Radiotherapy Radiographer (Stereotactic) Band 7
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader Radiotherapy Radiographer to join our Stereotactic Radiotherapy team. The Trust is delighted to invite applications from enthusiastic, forward-thinking radiographers with a keen interest in delivering stereotactic radiotherapy and a passion for team working and service development.
St Lukes Cancer Centre is focused on providing excellent patient pathways and patient-centred care. We strive to continuously evolve to reflect the technical advances within Radiotherapy. To that end, we have recently announced the replacement of two of our Varian TrueBeams with a Varian ETHOS and a Varian Halcyon at our satellite centre. These units will be the first in the NHS for in-bore SGRT and we are scheduled to be the first Centre to implement Hypersight later this year. Surface guided radiotherapy system installation will further improve the accuracy of treatment and present the opportunity for tattoo-less radiotherapy. Once installed, our patients will benefit from access to two ETHOS units, one Halcyon and four TrueBeams across our two radiotherapy centres.
We have three planning CT scanners, an exceptional Brachytherapy service which provides HDR, LDR and Papillon kV contact treatment; as well as an Xstrahl superficial machine.
Main duties of the job
Our stereotactic service currently provides treatment of primary lung as well as a range of both simple and complex oligometastatic sites including spine, liver and adrenal. We are currently recruiting to a stereotactic prostate clinical trial, with plans to open a second, to include prostate and pelvic node patients, later this year. Work is currently underway to expand our service to include primary pancreas and liver treatments, and to develop an online adaptive technique on the ETHOS unit for pelvic lymph node oligometastases. Our stereotactic patients benefit from access to a range of motion management techniques including 4DCT, 4DCBCT, DIBH, EBH, backup gating and abdominal compression.
Our main site is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford and our satellite centre is based at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. Guildford gives easy access to the beautiful North & South Downs Way, and has great transport links to the surrounding counties of Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex.
Your wellbeing is important to us and as such, we offer clinical staff a 9-day fortnight working pattern giving you the opportunity to have a fixed day off every two weeks. You will, no matter what your grade banding, be empowered to learn, grow and progress your career. We offer a variety of CPD opportunities and have strong links with Macmillan giving us access to valuable learning to ensure that our staff are the best that they can be.
