Job summary

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and hard working person looking to make a big impact? We are looking for dedicated and caring Radiology Department assistants to support our Ultrasound department at The Royal Surrey Hospital.

Our Radiology department is made up of 8 X-ray rooms, 5 CT scanners, 3 MRI scanners, 10 Ultrasound machines, an IR suite and 8 theatre machines. As well as 2 mammography machines and two OPG machines, one of which has CBCT capabilities. This year, we are working on our Interventional strategy which will hopefully see us moving from 1 to 3 interventional suites in the next 5-10 years and restructure the whole department to improve the experience and service we can provide to our patients.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have given us an overall rating of Outstanding.

Main duties of the job

This is a patient focused role. You will assist out-patients during their time in the ultrasound from transferring the patients to and from the departments, greeting them on arrival, assisting with their preparation for the examinations, and helping to provide a pleasant experience.

You will also take on some admin roles which may include, booking patients in for the appointment, stock management and room preparation. Training for all will be provided. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) including English and Maths, or equivalent.

Desirable

  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in healthcare

Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working within a busy team and managing time effectively.
  • Experience of providing good customer service. Experience of working within a radiology department
  • Experience and knowledge of using computer software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a caring role.
  • Experience of working within a radiology department
  • Experience of communicating well with patients and relatives.
  • Experience and knowledge of ordering and maintaining stock.
  • Knowledge of patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards.
