As a Band 7 Ultrasonographer, you'll work as an autonomous practitioner, contributing specialist expertise that directly influences patient diagnosis, treatment and experience.

Main duties of the job

In this rewarding clinical role, you will:

  • Perform and independently report high-quality, complex obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations.
  • Act as a specialist expert, interpreting complex findings, providing differential diagnoses and supporting clinical decision-making.
  • Provide combined screening using Viewpoint software, communicating results sensitively and offering counselling where needed.
  • Manage your own caseload, ensuring smooth, efficient patient care and maintaining accurate digital records.
  • Assist with invasive procedures (e.g. amniocentesis, CVS) when required.
  • Support and mentor students, trainees and advanced practice colleagues, contributing actively to education and skills development.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality assurance and service improvement projects.
  • Play an important role in service development, shaping pathways, protocols and patient information.
  • Deliver compassionate, clear communication--especially in situations involving fetal abnormality or loss--always ensuring women and families feel informed and supported.

  • Registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council)

  • PgD or MSc in Clinical Ultrasound
