Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team at the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting appointment and offers the chance to directly work in the Trusts financial accounting function. Working closely with the head of financial accounting, the successful applicant will be involved in daily work of Trust's balance sheet reconciliation, capital accounting, charity accounting, VAT accounting, payroll and other interfaces, and month end and year end processes. c
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, the Financial Accountant will provide operational support in delivering all aspects of the Trust's financial services function including: production of statutory annual accounts and monthly returns to NHS England (NHSE); balance sheet reconciliations; capital accounting and reporting; VAT review andreturns; payroll, JAC, and other system interface associated work; provisions reporting in accordance with the Department of Health and regulators guidelines; and charity accounting and reporting in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice(SORP). The role will ensure a robust control environment is maintained in accordance with principles of sound financial governance, Standing Financial Instructions and standard operating procedures.
The role will involve the expert analysis of complex financial information and the ability to concisely communicate the output of financial analysis to assist in financial decision making. The post holder will also be expected to update policies and procedures as necessary, and tohelp in shaping future service developments and driving process improvements. You will be required to contribute specialist technical accounting and business knowledge, strong analytical skills, and to be able to communicate complex finance issues whilst operatingautonomously
