Job summary

Surrey and borders is looking for someone to provide dietetic consultation, education and liaison to adults with moderate to severe eating disorders, members of the multidisciplinary team and associated services. The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary adult eating disorders team, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning and treatment of adults with eating disorders across both our outpatient and daycare settings.

Working Pattern: 37.5 Hours per weekMonday to Friday from 8AM to 4 PM

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist dietetic assessment, treatment, and nutritional management for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders across day care and outpatient settings.

  • To work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary eating disorders team, contributing to assessments, care planning, and treatment delivery.

  • To ensure high standards of patient-centred care, promoting dignity, individuality, wellbeing, and recovery.

  • To support continuity of care through effective liaison with acute hospitals, specialist eating disorder units, and relevant external services.

  • To contribute to service development, education, and quality improvement within the eating disorders service.

  • Take responsibility for maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential records in line with Trust policies, information governance standards, and legal requirements.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist dietetic consultation, assessment, and education to adults with moderate to severe eating disorders and their carers/loved ones.

  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively, adapting communication methods to individuals age, ability, and cultural needs.

Multidisciplinary and Interagency Working
  • Liaise closely with acute hospitals, specialist eating disorder units, and other relevant services to ensure safe, effective, and continuous patient care.

  • Provide dietetic advice, education, and consultation to members of the multidisciplinary team and other services as required.

  • Work collaboratively with other eating disorder service dietitians to ensure consistency of practice across the service.

Education, Training, and Group Work
  • Develop and deliver group education sessions on nutritional considerations in eating disorders for day care patients, including practical cookery groups.

  • Contribute to the training and education of other professionals regarding eating disorders and dietetic treatment approaches.

  • Offer supervision, mentoring, and support to dietetic placement students in line with professional standards.

Service Development and Quality Improvement
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the dietetic service provided.

  • Recommend service improvements and changes to the service manager and/or supervisor based on evaluation, audit, and service needs.
