You will play a key role in research support for wider care settings supporting the set up and delivery of a diverse portfolio of Commercial and Non-Commercial research studies and clinical trials across the South East Research Delivery Network. This role will involve engaging with stakeholders to promote research activity, site identification, set up and associated governance across wider care settings.Ongoing professional development will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for someonewith a healthcare background who is eager to build a career in research with a focus on wider care settings.

Main duties of the job

You'll work as part of a flexible, multidisciplinary team, supporting the set up and delivery of studies across multiple organisations and care environments, helping to make high quality research accessible to patients and participants across the region.The post is hosted by Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, with an operational base in either Kent, Surrey or Sussex.

There may be occasions where you will contribute to activities across the three counties to support wider network priorities and ensure flexible study set up and delivery across the region.

As this role involves travel, access to a car and a full driving licence is preferred. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with the Trust's expenses policy.

The focus for this role is to lead the delivery and/or set-up of National Institute for Health and Care Research Delivery Network (NIHR RDN) Portfolio studies across varied health and care settings. This will require flexible autonomous working across disciplines and the Regional RDN (RRDN) region.

This post has a dual function and the post holder will either lead on research delivery and/or research support for wider care settings dependent upon regional need.

Research delivery will involve the correct identification, recruitment, delivery and follow up for research participants according to the appropriate research protocols.

Research support will involve engaging with stakeholders to promote research activity, site identification, set up andassociated governance.

The post holder will need interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate collaborative working relationships across a breadth of stakeholders to maximise engagement opportunities.

This post may contribute to line management for and leadership of a team of research delivery staff working autonomously in a variety of specialties and settings.

The role will work alongside different professions from multiple organisations involved in health and care research and will be an integral part of the Agile Research Delivery Team which sits within the RRDN core team.

The post holder will also work closely with the Study Support Service and the Stakeholder and Engagement team.

  • CRPs should be on or working towards accredited registration with the AHCS.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Has completed or is undertaking a course in management / leadership.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Leadership management experience in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including UK Policy Framework for Health and Care Research, UK Clinical Trials Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the clinical trial and health and care research lifecycle including experience of the set up and delivery of clinical research studies in a health and care setting.
  • Experience of the care of patients/participants enrolled in research studies or a customer focussed role.
