We are looking for an enthusiastic radiographer to join our friendly and supportive team and help to expand your clinical expertise.

Our Band 6 rotation includes all general areas, theatres, maxillo - facial and fluoroscopy. There may also be opportunities to rotate through MRI, Mammography and the Cardiac Cath Lab.

Your rotation also has the benefit of extending out to our community sites based in:o Haslemere - Haslemere is a quaint and charming market town located in the South of Surrey. The hospital houses one X - ray room and one Ultrasound room with a busy Urgent Treatment Centre. We are also looking at adding an additional ultrasound room out here and considering options for the best use of additional spaceo Milford - Based in the quiet village, Milford Hospital is now home to our brand new state of the art Community Diagnostic Centre, housing 2 MRI scanners and a CT scanner. Additionally we have one X- ray room and two Ultrasound room.o Cranleigh - Situated at the foot of Surrey Hills, Cranleigh is a picturesque and vibrant village and home to Cranleigh Village Hospital. We have one X - ray room and one Ultrasound room here. With the help of the League of Friend Charity, Cranleigh will be receiving a refurbishment in 2025 which will include the installation of a brand new DEXA service.

Main duties of the job

o To work as part of a multidisciplinary team that undertakes diagnostic radiographic procedures in a timely fashion in keeping with established protocol, within designated areas.o Work independently when providing an on-call service to patients requiring urgent imaging due to trauma or acute illness.o Demonstrate levels of responsibility and initiative to assist radiologists during radiological investigations and procedures.o Maintain accurate patient records to reflect the service provided and meet professional standards.o Supervise junior radiographers, support ancillary staff and students, as required.o To promote a patient focused imaging service in a caring environment and facilitate collaborative working relationships with all other departments within the trust.o Demonstrate, maintain & update skills & knowledge of evolving practice & legislative requirements and undertake specialist training as appropriate to the post.

We have an Excellent Preceptorship programme to help new recruits not just to get to know the department but also get to know the area where the hospital is based. IV cannulation and Red Dot courses will be encouraged as standard for this post

Opportunities for CPD are very well supported at The Royal Surrey. We have an established radiographer led CT colonography service and have 9 qualified reporting advanced practitioners as well as a Radiographer Clinical Lead for AI. We have a number of our radiographers on advanced practice pathways including ultrasound and mammography interventional and film reading courses with some also working towards being a consultant radiographers.

Our Radiology department is made up of 8 X-ray rooms, 5 CT scanners, 3 MRI scanners, 10 Ultrasound machines, an IR suite and 8 theatre machines. As well as 2 mammography machines and two OPG machines, one of which has CBCT capabilities. This year, we are working on our Interventional strategy which will hopefully see us moving from 1 to 3 interventional suites in the next 5-10 years and restructure the whole department to improve the experience and service we can provide to our patients.

  • Hold an appropriate professional qualification recognised by college of radiographers D.C.R or BSc in Diagnostic radiography
  • Registered with HPC (Health Professionals Council).
  • Portfolio with evidence of C.P.D.

Desirable

  • Attend specialist short courses/seminars.
  • E.C.D.L. or equivalent.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of PACS and RIS system.
  • Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab .
