Job summary

A new opportunity has become available for an experienced technician in Aseptic Services. The successful applicant will become part of a busy team working within a licensed aseptic unit offering a high quality service to both internal and external customers. The unit has facilities for providing cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and gene therapy.

We require an experienced technician to assist with the provision of training of production tasks to staff including pharmacists, technicians, assistants and trainees. They must ensure that induction, training and competency checks are planned, delivered and documented in line with departmental procedures and protocols.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for undertaking production tasks and supervising the workload within the aseptic suite so they should be organised and able to prioritise work effectively. Accuracy, attention to detail and excellent communication skills are also essential requirements for this post.

These responsibilities require the applicant to have evident experience of aseptic dispensing and manufacture. There is a structured training programme within aseptic services where you are encouraged to develop to your full potential.

Main duties of the job

The training of operators is an essential element of the Quality Management System that supports the manufacture of sterile products by ensuring production operators have the knowledge and technique to assure that products remain sterile.

The Senior Training Technician assists with provision of training of production staff taking part in GMP activities including pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, technicians, assistants, domestic staff and other trainees in collaboration with Chief Technician Training. They must ensure that induction, training and competency checks are delivered, completed and documented in line with departmental procedures and protocols.

  • Tertiary education to include a life sciences degree or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services plus underpinning knowledge from BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience gained from significant demonstrable in sterile manufacturing

Desirable

  • Leeds University 4 days course in "Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines" (or willingness to undertake)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Significant relevant experience within aseptic services
  • Significant experience of completing Aseptic manipulation
  • Training experience in an aseptic production environment
  • Experience of working at supervisory level within a clean room environment
